STOKE CITY’S 35 SUMMER TRANSFER DEALS IN FULL CHANGING OF THE GUARD

So that’s that: 35 transfers deals of various descriptions and one managerial change later, the summer window has closed for Stoke City. Alex Neil made his first signing for the club on deadline day when he brought in Dujon Sterling on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea, which turned out to be the 10th new arrival of a busy couple of months.

The recruitment programme started with a coaches’ gathering hosted by Michael O’Neill at the end of last season when it was hoped that Harry Souttar and Nick Powell would be fit for Day One but in the end, injuries – and more injuries to key men – have shaped the plans of both O’Neill and his successor.
