CHAMPIONSHIP: STOKE IN BARNSLEY DRAW

Stoke City were unable to build on their win over Hudders field Town in the English Championship at the weekend after they settled for a draw in their latest game at home to Barnsley. The Potters had earlier returned to winning ways after their first defeat of the season in the English Championship.

Michael O’Neill and his Stoke City players were beaten comprehensively by Fulham for their first defeat in the Championship this season. Stoke City were on the end of a 3-0 defeat to hosts Fulham thanks to the goals from Harry Wilson, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Bobby Reid. The Potters bounced back from that first Championship loss this season with the 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town. They had to come from behind to pick up the three points on offer against the Terriers with all the goals coming in the second half.Huddersfield Town took the lead through Harry Toffolotwo minutes into the second half before the host team scored twice to win the game. The equaliser for Stoke City came almost immediately. It took the Potters three minutes to reply courtesy young striker Jacob Brown. The Potters scored the winning goal of the match with an own goal from Matty Pearson midway into the second half.

Stoke City secured a draw at home to Barnsley with ten men in their first English Championship outing after the win over Huddersfield Town. Former Bournemouth attacker Sam Surridge gave the Potters the lead on 17 minutes and they held on to that advantage until Cauley Woodrow scored the equaliser for Barnsley seven minutes from the interval. The two teams failed to add to their goal tally asStoke City ended the game with ten men due to the red card to Tommy Smith. The Potters stayed in fifth place on the Championship standings with the draw at home to the Tykes when they two teams met at the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night.
